The Maine 3-Railers is Maine’s premier 0-gauge model railroad club. We are currently the largest and oldest club in the state dedicated exclusively to the enjoyment and advancement of the 0-gauge, 3-rail, model railroad hobby. The Club was formed by 13 charter members on a dark cold night in late November of 1998, at what was once the Maine-Ly Trains Shop in South China. Many of those original charter members are still very active in the Club today, including the Club President, Secretary, and Treasurer. And of course, many more have long since joined the Club. Our current roster hovers between 75 and 100, mostly active members. Our membership is open to adults and children alike. We presently meet on the second Thursday of the month in Richmond, in a building housing the marvelous layout built and operated by our club Secretary. What follows are a few Club highlights…
Over the years we have hosted a several successful Club shows and exhibited operating layouts at countless other events.
Each year we sponsor a number of interesting road trips for club members, both in and out of state. On these, we visit train shops, attend shows, and visit club member’s layouts.
We also set-up and exhibit operating layouts at many locations throughout the year, ranging from train shows to public venues such as libraries, nursing homes and hospitals. All in the name of community service and promoting the model railroad hobby.
